I think you can still buy that crappy software (DVD X Copy) off the shelf at Best Buy and the like, and get the version with the ripper (until they sell out of those versions).
Why anyone would want to give that company money for a truly crap product is beyond me. Get DVDDecrypter (
www.dvddecrypter.com). It is FREE, although I would definitely donate after you try it. Using DVDDecrypter and, if you need to shrink the movie to fit on your DVD, DVDShrink (also FREE), you can copy any movie. And, unlike X Copy, where only the main movie is copied, you can copy the menus and all the extras...the entire DVD! Also, unlike X Copy which won't make copies of your copies, you can copy your copies to your heart's content with DVDDecrypter.
Also, X Copy says to disable anti-virus, firewall, etc. when using their crapware. Using DVDDecrypter and DVDShrink and / or Nero 6, I burn perfect DVD's while running anit-virus, firewall, and other software (PhotoShop, Illustrator, NetObjects Fusion) getting work done, all while connected to the internet. Try doing that with X Copy!
Finally, donating 2, 3, 5, or $10 to the great DVDDecrypter site beats the heck out of giving $60 - $120 for X Copy that doesn't even work. I went through hell with the trial version of X Copy. Their tech support said to uninstall Nero (what?), deactivate anti-virus and firewall, and even suggested I do a Windows Re-Install (XP).
With DVDDecrypter and DVDShrink all I did was download and install the software, printed out the instructions, followed the instructions, and VOILA! - I've had 100% perfect burns with Memorex True8x burner on all media - even inexpensive CMC-MAG disks.
X Copy sucked long before they removed the encryption technology. Once you use Decrypter and Shrink you won't even think about X Copy.
