Don't be late!

A parish priest was being honored at a dinner on
the 25th anniversary of his arrival in the parish.
A local politician was a member, was chosen to
make the presentation & give a little speech, but
was delayed, so the priest decided to say a few
words while they waited.
"You'll understand" he said "the seal of the
confessional can never be broken. But I got my first
impressions of this parish from the 1st confession I
heard here. I can only hint vaguely about this, but
when I came here, I thought I'd been assigned to a
terrible place. The very 1st guy to enter the
confessional told me how he'd stolen a tv & when
stopped by a cop, had almost murdered him. Further,
he told me he'd stolen money from his parents,
embezzled money from his place of business, had an
affair with his boss's wife, taken illegal drugs &
had given VD to his sister. I was appalled, but as
the days went on, I knew my people weren't all like
this & I'd come to a fine parish full of
understanding, loving people."
Just as he finished talking, the politician
arrived apologizing at being late & immediately
began making the presentation & gave his talk:
"I'll never forget the 1st day he arrived" he
said "In fact, I had the honor of being the 1st 1 in
the confessional."

Moral: DON'T EVER BE LATE
