DVD recorder production has shifted to high gear amid burgeoning demand. New models feature slimmer designs, HDDs.
More makers of DVD players are set to join the nascent DVD recorder line this year, attracted by the strong growth in demand. Industry analysts predict sales will rise by around 40 percent in Q2 over Q1, and so vendors are making ready to boost output--or enter the sector--in the second half of 2004.
The race has started to bring products to market as makers seek first-mover advantage. Prices are forecasted to drop in 2004 as more and more manufacturers enter the soon-to-be-very competitive line.
