Does anyone know any good and useful util to repair damaged MPEG file?

For long time I have been using VCDGear and TMPGenc (just started using it for few months) to repair some damgaged MPEG files, and never ran into any problem that those 2 can't.

Now with DVD I have to do a little more than making good VCD/SVCD but to make sure they can be burned as DVD. Today, I have run into few files (long series of old TV show) that neither VCDGear or TMPGenc can repair the AUDIO problem at some part of the files.

I ran it through VCDGear and it repaired around 30+ spots and patched quite a few places... but when using TMPGenc DVD Author to create DVD some stop where the errors are (5-10 minutes instead of 50-60 minutes episole). And it takes over a hour to create a full DVD.

I am running some of those bad ones through TMPGenc again while waiting for some suggestions.

TIA

Not quite sure what your doing by running them through TMPGEnc. Are you re-encoding them with TMPGenc or simply demuxing & re-muxing them?

I would use TMPGenc to demux the mpeg file first then use MPEG-VCR (www.womble.com ) to re-mux them back if needed. If problems with the audio, convert it to AC3 with BeSweet, it tends to "iron out" any problems.

Once awhile I run into some MPEG file that TMPGenc can't load, or problem at middle of the file. Most of them, I can use VCDGear to repair the problem. If it's a DAT file then I use DAT->MPEG if it's MPEG file then I use MPEG->MPEG with "FIX" option and it fix most of the problems.

If the problem not 100% fix then when I re-encoding it will stop at where the error is. Same with TMPGenc, TMPGenc DVD Author does the same without error report.

I have read about the "De-Mux" option, but most of my problem is frame rate and all I need is to change to 29.97fps so I just load the VCD template from *main* window, then load the source file, enter Output Filename then "START"

Sometime I just load in Cut/Merge option, set VCD compliant then "RUN" to save to different file (this one is much faster, but some time won't work).
