I'm doing some market research for you. :)

I have a hunch that many of the people who are initially attracted to this program might be IfoEdit users.

lol, I would have thought the complete opposite but then again people who don't strip themsleves manually may not know how hard this can be sometimes and not reliase the benefits of using DVDStripper

I'm quite experienced at DVD stripping and I can do all of what DVDStripper does manually and remove the video content myself and then use Ifoedit to correct the IFO's

the only thing is that even for me it still takes me a lot longer than 5-10 mins usertime to do the whole process as even searching for the stuff I want to remove sometimes takes me 5-10 mins to locate

it then takes anything from a few mins to up to however long, say 30 minutes for example to remove content in most projects as it all depends on how clinically I want to remove stuff. Some things would take longer if I wanted to remove the end credits etc but maintain the DVD structure as I want it to play on any DVD player

I must also be also be at the PC throughout the whole process :(

DVDStripper offers the user the option of making the searching easier and removing the unwanted video content. It also offers to update the IFO's for the instead of having to manually update them yourself

I value my spare time and I now can enjoy more time doing other things than spending time stripping a DVD manually even if I do enjoy it did enjoy doing it that way. I can now backup a few DVD's in a weekend and have more time to enjoy myself in the rest of the weekend :D

this tool also gives complete newbies a chance of enjoying the same results the Ifoedit Pro's enjoy yet do it in a faster time and have less chance of messing it up. Even my mother who can't hardly use a PC can strip a DVD faster than me now using DVDStripper if I do it manually!

$20 may seem a lot for something that can be done manually using various methods and various free tools but how much do people value an hour of their own time and how many coasters have they made before they started getting constant successful results?

some people have other commitments such as children, jobs etc and cannot find the spare time to do it manually and DVDStripper give them the option of doing it quickly and correctly with the minimum of fuss regardless of DVD knowledge :D

cheers

I can appreciate what DVDStripper does and I'm not questioning that.
that's great to hear, it's just some may not understand what it does so I thought I'd write it out as plain as can be

thanks for starting the thread as it will be interesting to know the results ;)

I know how to use IFOEdit, but I don't "know" how to use IFOEdit. With the development of DVDStripper, I've found that DVDStripper can do so much more with IFOEdit than I thought was possible without having to know the detailed capabilities of IFOEdit. So I really don't know which button to select.

I'm interested in seeing how many DVDStripper users also know how to use IfoEdit.

I too know how to use the app. Guess what, MackemX is the teacher. I basically started learning how to strip a DVD using IFOEdit about three months ago from MackemX's valueable guides. And they r free! :D :p

I know how to and do use IFOEdit well enough to accomplish anything I want to do, but there is much it can do that I'm not aware of.

I wouldn't say I'm an expert with IFOEDIT but I get along pretty well however it can be a lenghty experience at times depending on what you want to do with a movie.
This is why I welcomed DVDStripper from the start.

Hey MX what should I do with all your guides and those of 2COOL ? :D

Actually there shound't be one decent sole left on Earth who doesn't have DVDStripper by the end of the week!!!!! :D :D :D :D :)

So I'll just start a warm camp fire with them ;)

Because I do know how to use IfoEdit (and IfoUpdate, and Scenarist, and TmpgEnc and/or CCE, and "The Big Three") I can more fully appreciate the speed with which DVDStripper allow me to remove my less-than-desireable parts of the movie.

When I make backups of my Disney DVDs for my kids (6, 4, 22 months and 4 weeks) I always did so stripping out all the garbage before the main movie played, then used IfoEdit to skip the menu (I kept the menu so you could go to extras if you wanted). Disney is notorious for hiding their intro scenes (ad nauseum) in various VOBs. DVDStripper makes this a breeze.

*edit* I'm sure The_Poacher will ask me to introduce myself, but I've been here longer than anyone except him ;)
