Do dvd backups work for anyone on XBOX?

Do dvd backups work for anyone on XBOX?

I have HP dvd 200i and I am using HP DVD+R(W)

and they are not recognized, has anyone else tried and had

success.

Also I have the DVD kit and it still does not recognize the DVD+Rs

I am using the latest version of nero to burn these.

I've played home video burnt on a DVD+R/+RW on my xbox with no problems and no mod chips. Make sure that the disc only has one session and the disc has to be finalized. Don't waste DVD+R's testing this out... be on the safe side, try a +RW.

Hope this helps.

note here YOU DO STILL need the remote control and the dvd remote eye dongle to play any DVD on the X-BOX even for ORIGINAL RETAIL DVD'S or they simply will NOT play ..unless of course you have a mod chip installed :)

The ability to play certain media depends on your Xbox's DVD-rom. Not all are equal. You can get either a Thomson, Phillips or Samsung drive in Xboxes. The Samsung DVD-rom drive is the best, and capable of playing the most media.

The 3 different drives recognise DVD-R media, with the Phillips recognising DVD-R better than the Thomson. The Thomson's the worst drive.

The Samsung's recognisable by the two holes in the tray.

I've had both successes and failures with copied movies on an xbox.

I'm using dvd shrink, dvd decrypyer and nero (and TDK +r media) to burn the back ups and it can still be hit and miss. Eg. This backed up the 2 LOTR movies and xbox will play them but didn't work for Pirates of the Carribean.

I think the best idea may be to either get the samsung dvd-rom or buy a cheap dvd player and use it to play movies (I've done this as I got sick of burning coasters).

i believe xboxs are most compatible with dvd+r set to booktype dvd-rom. if you have a drive that is capable of burning the booktype as dvd-rom, you should try that.

I have xbox chipped and it has a samsung drive. My machine will not recognise dvd+r. It has played every dvd-r thrown at it wether a game or movie. I did read somewhere that xbox can be picky about movies if the disc has the AUDIO_TS folder.
