Has anyone any thoughts on the DMS 3
I have no personal experience with this chip, however my buddies Bighap and Charlie_ps2 do :) Below is what they have to say about it...

Overall DMS3 is better because it has all the extra features. Your average gamer wont ever need these extras though. If you need the features get the DMS3. If not, get a Messiah 2 to save some cash.

From a gaming only point of view they are identical except that DMS3 directly supports the MM16 card without having to boot the support disk first.

DMS3 costs more because it does more in the non-gaming arena, as I'm sure you know.

As to nacking the laser, neither M2 nor DMS3 do that.
The main DMS3 site is at http://www.dms3.com, they have a useful FAQ section there http://www.dms3.com/faq.htm

I have also heard that this is a pretty useful chip in terms of console emulation as it has several features that are not present on the Messiah 2 chips.

Thanks for your reply m8 :)

My modded PS2 uses that chip...I am very satisfied. I bought a brand new PS2 with the DMS3 chip installed for 289$ US. You gotta love it!

As for the DMS. It is a very good chip and you can upgrade it. It's really good. Me i bought the messiah just to save some cash. But i've heard some really nice things about the DMS. It supports the new hd that sony is coming out with. As for the messiah. Only versions that are v1.31 and up (today v1.31 is the highest messiah 2 pro version) support the hdd. Im not sure if the v.1.3's can get formatted or patched to have the hard drive.

Im getting carried away so in conclusion DMS is a good buy.
