Divx to SVCD Problems

Hi!

I use TMPGEnc Plus. When i encode the Divx file to mpeg2, make a SVCD with Nero and then put the SVCD into my DVD player it works but i can't use the "fast forward" funktion. When i press this button the movie returns to the beginning and starts the movie from the beginning again. With a VCD i don't have this problem.

Can you help me?

Hi, I'm not an expert in these things...maybe Chickenman will log in later this day and give you a more experienced advice... so keep checking your post. Until then I would suppose that maybe your DVD player does not support SVCD completely, or that it has something to do with the PBC (PlayBack Control) feature of the player. You might try to convert your divx avi to svcd using DVD2SVCD (search the forum) because this program has for sure an option to make the SVCD without PBC.
But, as I said, if you want to go for sure, wait for Chickenman !

Unfortunately many DVD Players have that problem with SVCD's. Dont assume that just because VCD play ok that SVCD will play okay.

Originally I had the identical problem with my Hitecker (Apex) AD600 DVD player, a new Firmware upgrade and problem solved. Now playes everything perfectly.

I would also suggest you have a read of this tutorial on DivX to SVCD conversion http://forum.cdrsoft.cc/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15298
You will get a lot better results than using TMPGEnc and could also eliminate your FF/Re-w problems as TMPGEnc is not involved.

Yesterday I tried it again but not with Nero. I used VCD Easy and then the FF/Re-w function worked.
