Divx sound codec settings

What would members of the board recomend for sound codec settings.

If sombody wanted to render a dvd movie to divx with the best possible divx settings how much could you take off the sound codec in order to get the most data through the video codec.

In other words how much could you reduce the size of the sound bitrate/ sample in order to leave as much space for the video .

I am trying to get my movies on to just one 700mb CD.

I would suggest vorbis over mp3, of course that means ditching the AVI format.

By DivX sound codec settings, you would mean the DivX audio codec though? That is just a hacked version of WMA V2 and I wouldn't recommend it.

You can reduce the bitrate, samplerate, number of channels as much as you want, however sound is an important part of any movie, so I would suggest leaving the samplerate at 48KHz, downmixing to 2channels minimum and using a decent bitrate.

With some movies it is possible to have them on 1 CD with 5.1AC3 and the video at a decent resolution.

y?
moreover, where can i get a new acm for ogg vorbis?

mmm yeah
i once tried to use ogg vorbis instead of mp3 but upon forwarding the movie, audio & video were not sync.
moreover i do have the same prob when using abr mp3 bitrate.
with divx audio (wma2 hacked) wat i didn't like was that only a bitrate of 64kbps seems to be recommended for divx encoding while others didn't.
in terms of size /quality,ogg vorbis is better than mp3,but i still can't use ogg for audio when viewing divx under mplayer(linux)

The AVI does not support VBR audio streams, so you can't have vorbis in an AVI. VBR mp3 (abr is vbr) is possible via a hack, however that doesn't make it a good idea.

Vorbis and XviD works fine for me with mplayer(win2k).
