Divx Playback - Sound distored-"Underwater" like

Hello
Every Divx avi movie I play has the same problem in that after 5-30 minutes the sound becomes distored as if it was underwater or stuttering.

Happens on multile players : Windows MP; BS Player; ViedoLAN; Divx palyer.

I've installed various codec packs to try to fix the issue:
tsunami_filter_pack_3_8_9_mini -- Klite codec pack-- ffdshow-20030523
to no avail.

I have a AMD 2.8GHZ with a gig of ddr running XP

Me sound card is STaudio C port 2000 (hoontech) and I have the latest drivers installed. I changed the master clock to the lowest setting 32000Hertz and palyer with different buffers to no avail. I did swap out for a soundblaster which worked; but the staudio is such a better card I'd like to use only that one.

Any suggestions? I did see this exact same problem with another user on another board (unknown soundcard) but no one responded -- so I know I'm not alone. It happens on Divx avi's only.
Any help would be very apreciated. Thanks in advance.

I would not recommend installing the Nimo pack either, it has destroyed more systems than it has ever helped. This forum and others is full of Nimo pack created problems.

Run GSPOT (do a search here for its URL) and report back the results for the Audio for the divx file.

Most divx files use MP3 either CBR or VBR. Are you able to playback MP3's without any probs with your sound card?

Thanks for the info -- I thought it was just divx files, but MP3's have the same issue:

The avi you gave the Gspot results from has AC3 audio. Your list of installed codec lists 3 AC3 codec installed.

Thats the problem with installing Codec packs you end up with more codec's that I've had hot dinners :D You simply dont need them all, the more is not always good. Your system is basically totally confused as to which codec to use for playback.

In reality all you need to playback/encode 99.9% of DivX is an MP3, an AC3 and possibly an ogg codec. You need DivX 5.x and an updated Xvid codec for video. Thats it, no more no less.

I'd start to fix your problem by uninstalling your Krystal Pack
