divx playback problems

ok i am haveing all sorts of playback assues with divx on media player.It wont play any divx or mpeg for that matter but will play back asf properly.
I am even haveing the same issues with divx player but can get an image on power dvd but it stretches widescreen divx to full screen.I have tried getting the latest media players but have the same issue,have tried reinstalling the divx codecs aswell.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi CM

I can't play AVI ( DIV3 type) movie in WinDVD 4, but I can play in RadLight very well. I think is bcz the codecs, but why the RadLight works and WinDVD 4 didn't ?

Could you explain me and what I can do to fix WinDVD 4 problem?

Hmm... DivX3, DivX4, DivX5 and Xvid all payback fine on my WinDVD 4.

The problem can com by installing more than one DVD player on your system, all sorts of things get screwed with more than 1. I dont need Subtitle playback so WinDVD and Windows own WMP does ALL my movie playback.
