divx not playing

why dose my[ win, media player]play some divx films and not other ones.is it the codes could some one tell me were to get proper codes

please use Gspot http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ to detect if it's really DivX and not Xvid; so you will know which codec you have to update;

Current DivX decoder by default takes the XviD fourCC, so DIV3, DIVX, DX50 and XVID should all be decoded. Whether or not it decodes the XviD properly though is a different story.
