DiVx (not AVI) to SVCD

I have downloaded a film it is a DIVX not an AVI how do i convert it to SVCD . TMPGenc doesn't seem to recognise the file type nor does DVD2SVCD
Help please

Sorry, but a DivX IS an AVI. What is the file you downloaded full name?

Does the movie play with Windows Media Player or other player? If you load the file into VirtualDUB, and go to File Properties, what does it say there?

these are the details from virtual dub I came with a warning about audio file being VBR thanks for the help

Thanks, your movie is a "standard" DivX encoded with DivX 3.11 Codec, it is NTSC (film) and audio is "standard" VBR MP3.

Have a read of this tutorial at http://forum.cdrsoft.cc/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15298 and your DivX will be converted perfectly to a SVCD, no problems.

TMPGenc cannot handle VBR MP3 audio, thats why it rejected it. If you really do want to use TMPGEnc to do the conversion, then have a read of how to extract and convert the Audio to a WAV file for TMPGenc to accept it and keep it all in sync. Its all in the DivX to VCD tutorial in the bottom reply post @ http://forum.cdrsoft.cc/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15298

Hi

I have tried using DVD2SVCD version 1.0.9 build 3 but when I try to load the DIVX file i get the message

Error

You are using the wrong version of DVD2 AVI.Please download the right version from htt://dvd2 svcd.doom 9.net

what version should I use

Use that version of DVD2SVCD but do NOT link it to the version of DVD2AVI you already have on your computer. The version used by DVD2SVCD is a special version of 1.76 that has command line input, no other varsion can do this.

Just want to say, I followed the DIVX2SVCD tutorial, and they are so easy to follow, and to get results from. Just want to say thanks Chickenman!

I tried DVD2SVCD and it works for other files but how do i adjust the settings so that it only links to DVD2AVI 1.76?.I have looked through the tabs and can't find any thing to adjust please help with this one problem and I may not have to bother you again

Thanks for your help

Hmm... actually if your source file is an AVI, then DVD2AVI is NOT used in the conversion. In the Misc. Tab, select DVD and a DVD2AVI tab will apper at the top. Click it and make sure its pointing to dvd2avi.exe in the DVD2SVCD folder where you installed it.
