To playback DivX movies you MUST have a DivX codec installed. Go to _www.divx.com and get their ver 5.02 and install. Then go to _www.doom9.net and download DivX ver 3.11 and install. You will then be set up to playback 95% of all DivX's.
The other 5%, well they are ASF or Xvid. Actually Xvid is becoming more and more popular everyday for encoding DivX's, so if needed, get its codec from _http://roeder.goe.net/~koepi/xvid.shtml

Actually under the new rules for definition of a DivX encoded movie, Xvid is an acceptable and approved encoding. So an AVI encoded with Xvid codec is still called a DivX. Confused, good, so am I.
