divx av prob

i have been converting divx to mpeg to burn on to dvd

most are fine but with quite a few files i have been having lip sync probs
the movie starts off fine until a certain point then the sync goes it is fine in mpeg format but its when i burn back to dvd that this problem arises

having checked the mpegs for when the sound goes out i noticed that there is a sort of corrupt part only lasts for a few seconds but i think this is the cause of my lip sync problem

but i dont have a clue the best or anyway to fix the problem
any help would be appreciated

thanks

Welcome to the forum.

As you suggested, the problem lies with the original AVI, just a bad download. Some download managers can corrupt the avi. What ever program/method you use to convert it with, will result in the same problem.

Run DivFix ( from http://divfix.maxeline.com ) to see if that can fix the avi problem. If not, then try DivXRepair (from http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=75428& ) as this has worked many times for me before. Failing all that, obtain another copy of the the AVI.

The mpeg file you have can be repaired but a long and painstaking job. You need to cut the MPEG file just prior to the point it has the problem. Then demux the back poart of the MPEG and use MPEG2VCR to re-mux and apply an audio offset. Once sync is correct, cut off the offending crap at the satrt of this back part file and join the good front part to this with TMPGEnc.
