Choose open with function instead of open the file and from that list choose the second option (hell, I use the dutch version of windows  so don't know the english word that pops up. It's a standard windows proggie to open small text files, you know hopefully what I mean.)

Edit : Found the word, got spinning around my mind. Open your .nfo files with Notepad :D

The NFO file is just a plain text file, open it in Notepad. Better still accociate NFO to Notepad and then Notepad will open them all when you click on them.

I wonder why the crackers chose this nfo extension, after all it is already in use by msinfo32.exe, so all newbies all over the net complain that the nfo files are corrupt, because they always try to open these files with msinfo32.exe instead of a nfo viewer.

thankyou all for your help but had managed to sus it out all ready. amazing what you can do when you think!!!

I've always understood NFO was short for iNFOrmation. In a Win2000 or WinME installation, a NFO is not associated with any program. I actually use an old program called TEXTPAD as my Notepad replacement and have assosiated both NFO and DIZ files to it. On click and its instantly there, change the font to Terminal and you now see some chunky but meaningful graphics instead of the crazed mess when using the default font.
