DiscT@2 - Home Tests - Verbatim

First things first - clear up some issues!

1. NERO is only needed to burn the DiscT@2, you can use any cd burning app to put together your CD.

2. As long as your session is closed, then you open up NERO and compose your DiscT@2 to burn onto a finished CD..

3. A DiscT@2 can take between 6 and 20 minutes, depending on the complexity and amount of CD coverage the design takes up

Here are my first home tests using the Yamaha DiscT@2 laser engraving..

Media Used - Verbatim

DataLifePlus CD-R
1x-24x
700MB

Crystal superAZO

Umm.. the designs are simple, will experiment with more complex photos at a later date.

By their very nature it is extremely difficult to photograph these using a digital camera, because you need light bouncing off of the surface to catch the design! :)

I've scanned these using an Epson Perfection 610, light is an issue again, but only obscures part of the design, the pictures give you an idea of what is possible.

Picture 1. - an overall scan of a design done for a ' back-up ' of Norton Antivirus 2003.

Picture 4. Ghost 2003

Moving onto a new product :)

Norton Ghost 2003, similar design.

Self Extracting .zip, due to photo size limits on attachments.. :(

Some nice subtle detail on the symantec logo, notice it's kinda grey scale.. not just black and white, so to speak..

Good stuff, Strahlen. The blue disks work ok for T@2ing, but have you also tried green disks (if you can get hold of them)?

There are also some nice T@2 shots here:

Happy burning! :)

Thanks Strahlen for your post. I have been thinking about getting a F1 but still not sure if it is worth it.

poncho i don't think it's worth getting a F1 because of DiscT@2 but the F1 has many other features and behaves best with the newest audio cd protections, and it has 44x FULL-CAV
it's a good writer at all, and disct@2 is nothing more than a nice addon

I agree with Fortitude!

I agree 100% with Fortitude, the drive is rock solid, umm.. burned CD albums like Beck's Sea Change in just over two minutes.. reached about 35.56x :) (CloneCD)

I don't copy much games, from the point of view of audio, this is the one to get..

I picked the drive up here in Dublin for 215 euro (Peats Electronics), that includes Government VAT of %25..

If I want to copy something quickly.. well.. the felt tip pen is still king.
