DiscJuggler settings for ps2 backup creation

Hey guys I am getting a Pioneer A04 drive and was just curious what settings would I need in DiscJuggler in order to create proper DVD backups?

I would be using the "Create CD and DVD disc image" option to create a Disc Image on my drive.
I am just curious what "advanced" settings I need to copy the disc such as block size, ignore read errors, etc.

I have 2 other related questions as well:

1)
Also, do I have to use my pioneer drive to backup the disc, or could I use my Toshiba 16X dvd writer to back it up? (i.e. will any good quality stand-alone DVD-ROM be able to rip PS2 dvd games into .cdi images well)

2)
What read/verify speed should I use?

Thanks for the help

this is easy

if you are on windows 98 (or any other fat32 file system) then if the dvd toc is larger than 4gb you must use "copy from dvd rom to dvdr" but other than that just use the create image option from your dvd rom drive at the maximum speed allowable.

once you have the image just burn it to a dvdr on your pioneer a04, speed is dependant on the media you are using (ps2 dosent like cheap media anyway) if you are using something like pioneer, verbatim or tdk media just burn it at 2x, i wouldnt bother with the verify option just boot the disc and make sure it works. if you find an original that wont read in one drive then try it in your pioneer (personaly i've found the liteon 16x dvd rom is about the best at present for reading "dodgey" originals).

hope that helps, if you need more just ask, i'll be back on here later today.

by the way, nero is better for copying ps2 dvd's just use the wizzard and select dvd, copy a dvd and burn :)

The Fat32/NTFS tip was a big help, as it saved me from some unneccesary head scratching.

I just use my NTFS partition to store the DVD images now.

I tried discjuggler for backing up GTA3, it worked great on my A04.

Only problem was that it seems to fail while finalyzing the disc once in a while. This is odd since I never multitask, have the latest stable drivers for all my hardware, etc. (weird since I NEVER have problems with CDR burning). I thought the bufferunderun stuff would stop that...

Perhaps I'll give Prassi/Vertias recordnow max a try and see if I have the same problem. It ain't the media since I am using ONLY the media pioneer recommends.

One last question, do you think I should upgrade my firmware (my drive was manufactured in march) and is so what firmware release would you recommend?

Thanks for all your help ABCman. Now that I have this A04 I can't wait to try a few other titles. Have a good vacation (I geuss that is why you said you won't be here for a while right?)

thanks for the tip, but I assume you mean that Libcrypt is only on ps2 cd games, not on PS2 dvd games right?

thanks

PS2 games are as most PS1 games, protected with Libcrypt.......
This means that you need a reader, capable of subchannnel data reading...
Pioneer can only read raw+16 bytes subchannel data...
So you have to use another reader to get the full raw +96 bytes subchannel data..............;)
