Disc not recognized.

Hello all. This will be my first post on these forums and i'm hoping someone will have some suggestions regarding my problem.

I backed up some data to CD-R about six months on my HP CD12RI. After lending the disc to a friend I could no longer access the contents. There were a few scratches on the data side and any attempt to load the disc resulted in the message "I: Invalid Operation". I ran the disc through a Game Doctor and all of the scratches were removed and the resurfacing pattern is barely visible. Now, any attempt to read the disc results in "Please insert a disk into drive I:".

I have tried to read this disc using the original HP CD-RW, Plextor CD-RW, Creative DVD-ROM, LiteOn CD-ROM and an AOpen CD-ROM. The resulting message is always the same. I have also tried software such as ArrowKey CD/DVD Diagnostic and ISOBuster. Neither have been able to access the data as the disc will not spin up - the drive does not recognize the media.

Any suggestions or is there any other software/method available for recovering the data on this disc?

Thanks.

I just archived some data off my hard drive as I needed to clean up a bit. All of the data was organized into ZIP files.

I downloaded badcdrepair but it won't help for the same reason as the other software i've tried - the drive won't spin up the disc. I need a utility that will tell the drive to read the disc from start to finish and copy the data to the hard drive. Since i'm not terribly familiar with the structure of a burnt disc (single session/DAO) i'm not sure if there is anything like that out there.

"Game doctor" as well as most disk repairing kits are just disk destroyers, as you might already found out... sorry for that.
The mildest applicable solution is applying toothpaste with a soft cloth (does not make a big difference, but not any harm either), or Brasso, which needs more care but anyway does a decent job with little danger for the disk's health.
In short, "game doctor" has destroyed your CD(s) and you might think asking for a refund.

Hmm... i'm going to refrain from jumping to any conclusions at the moment. I've personally known people to restore skipping/unreadable discs with the Game/Disc Doctor... granted, it doesn't always work tho. This is the first disc i've tried with the Game Doctor and it was unreadable to begin with... I also tried the toothpaste trick first and it left the disc scratched (lightly), hazy and unreadable.
