Directcd and Nero

Hello all, I am new but I had a question. Will Directcd and Nero work on the same computer. I know the full version of EZCD and Nero will not work together but I need a cd packet writing program that will write to cdr's as well as cdrw and InCD does not.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I know the full version of EZCD and Nero will not work together

Says WHO!!! I had them together on my PC for a year and half?!

If you have full installation of ECDC 5 Platinum, you can choose what to install:) Now I have only DirectCD & SoundStream, Nero is, of course, installed and everything works perfectly fine;););)

Sorry, I forgot, welcome to best CDR Forum ever:D

P.S. And DON'T FORGET, just ONE packet writing software installed!!!

so true...I have EZ CD 5.3.24.1 Platinum with DirectCD and Nero 5.5.10 and no problems...I just dont have InCD installed...and I went to thr registry and stop DirectCD from loading at start..and control it manually from the start menu....and besides...since the cdrw is already formatted...I dont have to start DirectCD...it works anyways...only have to start it to eject the cdrw

For another version, I found that Nero coexisted reasonably happily - but stepped on DirectCD when used.

That is, DirectCD would be ok, Nero would be ok, but after Running Nero (and burning?), DirectCD would not work until rebooted.

Not sure if that's still true?

Why don't you using Ahead's InCD instead DirectCD?

InCD is for free, when you have Nero installed.
But uninstall DirectCD fully bevore you install InCD.

Thanks for all your comments. In the past, when I have tried installing EZCD and Nero, I have had major problems and actually, Nero would do a consistency check and tell me not to install EZCD.

The reason I want DirectCD instead of InCD is because InCD does not support burning to a cdr; it only supports cdrw's. To my knowledge, I can use either or with DirectCD.

If EZCD and Nero can work fine together, then I will install it.

Thanks...

Let me know if what I am saying is wrong..

Me again;)

I have latest Nero together with parts of ECDC (DirectCD & SoundStream) on both my OSs, Win XP Pro SP1 & Win Me (for my kids) and EVERYTHING works perfect!!!

Simply, I don't like InCD!!!

InCD only supports RW media
DirectCD also supports CD-R - using variable packet

CD-R (variable packet UDF) is perhaps more suitable for small, cumulative addition than multisession, as the session overhead goes against making very small additions.

Unlike CD-RW (fixed packet UDF), Varible packet cannot be read in a CD-ROM with a UDF reader, but needs to be closed to ISO - though another UDF session can be used for further update and later closure - but be sure to leave enough space to close it, or you'll be left with a CD that only works with DirectCD in a writer!

Best by test packet writer which also works with CD-R is Veritas DLA, but unfortunately if Íero is also installed it would not see any media inserted in the burner- or eventually crash together with Windows explorer. It does not seem to have any problems with other major mastering software brands, though.
