Digital video camcorder to DVD

Hello,

I'm new to this and there is probably a thread that I've overlooked here but I would like to get some opinions on what software to use to convert my Digital Video Tapes to DVD.....any advice would be appreciated. I've heard MyDVD is pretty good...but that's just from another noobs point of view.

I have only just purchased my first DV camcorder and I am impressed with the quality and ability of new camera's. A colleague of mine has just purchased the Pinnacle Studio 8 software pack with his camera and I would like to say that on first impressions it does look like it can do the job with a fair amount of proffesionalism. The pack costs £79.99 and includes a firewire card and cable so the software is costing you around £40.00, not bad. I have tested Studio 8 myself for around an hour and now look forward to editing my first DV film. Many outlets do recommend Pinnacle 8 and I will certainly be giving a good workout , check out the Pinnacle website to review what it can do, I think you'll be impressed.

Used Ulead DVD Movie Factory 2. From VCD, SVCD to DVD Video 4.7GB DVD-R/RW or DVD+R/RW.

I have a Sony DVR-27 and used Pinnacle 8.5 with slow but great results. Having used both Premier 6.5 and Scenalyzer 2.0, I have audio sync issues, but they are quick to capture and Premier can do a great rendering job. Only Pinnacle has not messed the audio up on me so far. Vegas Video 4 is great for trimming AVIs, and the MPG2 DVD rendering is good. TMPGEnc DVD Author does an excellent job of authoring from a single MPG to VOBs.
