Deleting 3partitions to one?

My friend has a 120gb HDD split into 3 partitions. What i need to know is, to delete the 3 and make back to one, can i do this with the Windows xp cd or would i need to use FDISK???
I need to make his HDD back to one big partition and install win xp pro.

Yep U can do this by booting from the XP cd, just make sure Ur BIOS is set to boot from cd & then follow the prompts, when it gets to asking U what partition U want to install too, just delete all the partitions & then create one big one, & then formay with a full NTFS format (not the quick format as this can cause a few quirks) doing so will lose all data on the drive so backup first if U need to :)

why not use a partitioning program such as system commander or partition magic to remove the partitions and increase the size of the first one, if XP is already installed you can avoid formatting and reinstalling that way
 
Modern Live Linux CD's can resize partitions, including NTFS, but this feature shoulb be still considered as beta/experimental.
