decrypter and then shrink .... why ?

hello all ..

i been reading that some people rip dvd's with dvd decrypter and then re-authr with dvd shrink , what is the reason for this ? i been making backups with shrink and imgtool and i used shrink on its own and not in combination with decrypter .

needles to say i'm new to the dvd backup thing so maybe somebody is willing to tell me the advantages of the decrypter/shrink combo and how this would work.

thanks ..

it's just the different formats they convert into ... nothing major... however if distortion or quality loss is present then that maybe your answer...

A number of people on different forums have encountered ripping problems with Shrink too so as DVD Decrypter seems to be the tool of choice for most people they continue to use it as you also have so many other excellent options with this tool.

ok .. got it thanks .

i was thinking that if one uses deep analysis on shrink it wears the dvd reader less down cuz it does the analysis from the hard-drive and not from the reader.

anyway, thanks :)

The deep analysis can be done by performed by DVD shrink after the film has been ripped mind before it transcodes the data. ;)
