decompressing .tar archives

I've downloaded an mpg file which has been split and compressed into a .tar file.
I usually use winrar but get crc errors, missing archive errors or archive corrupt.

I had a look at te tar software, but jeeeeeeeeez it's all source code n stuff!
I JUST WANNA WATCH THE LATEST EPISODE OF 24 for crying out loud!

Can anyone tell me what I'm mising?
Surely not every single archive is corrupt?

Well, you can check to keep broken archives,it might extract if you`re lucky,or try to repair archives with winrar, other then that you can do much more..After that you can check the rules and see whats going on here.....
Good luck with archives.. :)

Winrar can unpack tarballs perfectly well, so the archive must be corrupt indeed.
Same applies for Power Archiver, IZarc and every other decent packer.
And by the way a .tar archive cannot be multivolume.

maby instead of downloading the episodes breaking copywrite laws and piracy and FORUM RULES it might be a good idea to ACTUALLY A) wait for it to be on TV b) wait for a re-run C) buy it on box set when it comes out

justice is self served here if you dabble in warez/pirated material and find it faulty then thats the luck of the gamble!

Sorry if I broke any of the rules - still a n00b on this site.

Had to download a couple of episodes as I had to work late and missed em on the tv : (

Box set aint out yet - but when it is, I'll be the first there to buy it!

Alias - best tv ever!
(apart from maybe 24!)
