DCOM error

i am suddenly getting a DCOM error that is crashing my system, it started suddenly and has been getting more frequent i have attached an image of the error message here, the error itself when it happens appears and disappears so quickly i just got the error from event viewer. this error happens most often when i try to open a web page and its not a particular page that does it

i have done that, unfortunately i cant get the file to attach here or insert the image i saved, i'm working on it

DCOM got error "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it "attempting to start the service ImapiService with arguments "-Service" in order to run the server:

the event id for this error is 10005

I'd say...you might be using a CD Burning program that uses the IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service and its disabled.....but also DCOM is been used to pass a virus...so i would also run by windows update...MS updated there DCOM Security Patch.

i have already run the security patch and the msblast virus cannot be found on my system with symantecs fix. i disabled the windows burning program months ago and only have nero installed, however i was not using it when this happens

well you need to narrow it down with the "method of elimination"...one of your programs is using that service...and needs to be disable within its options.

Just a wild guess!:)
Have you installed any backup soft with burning support ?
Is there any new services listed that have dependencies to imapi ?

i have not installed any software at all in god knows how long, strange that imapi would all of a sudden be required by any programs i have running since they r the same programs i have had running with windows for over 2 years. also not to be offensive but i dont really like the idea of u displaying my isp and my ip address for the world to see, i'm sure some others must have a problem with this

No offence taken m8 :)
Nhe, so far your the only one, although i was expecting someone to react sooner or later ;) :)

Heres the privacy statement from the author

I suppose I could hire some lawyer to write a 10 page Privacy Statement - or "borrow" one from some big site. But what's the point? Do I really need 10 pages of crap to tell you "we take your info, we can use it however we want and SPAM you as often as we like"? Well, I dont plan to do that - so I'll just write my own.

There are varying degrees of privacy on the Internet. I'm not displaying any information that isn't already collected by every other website out there. There is no "hacking" of your machine to find this information out and I'm not recording it any differently than anyone else.

That said - lets keep this simple so everyone can understand it:

- The information you see is about you - not displayed for anyone else to see.
- We ask for an email address so we can send you a key to manage your signature. You will get one email from us with instructions on how to manage your signature (and a followup with a new link for every edit). We'll also include a link to OPT-IN to any newsletters we may send out. By default everyone has been OPT'd out. You do not have to provide an email address, but you wont be able to change/delete your signature and I wont respond to "please change my sig for me" requests.
- We will not sell or otherwise distribute any information we do collect to anyone.

Look, I hate SPAM as much as everyone else does and I have no intention of SPAMMING anyone. But if you want to use my server and my bandwidth there should be at least some reasonable expectation that at some point I'll need to send you some kind of information about upgrades, changes or whatever

You can get more info regarding privacy, etc at the forum.

On a more serious note though. I have no objection removing the darn thing, and if i get more feedback that people are offended it will be gone asap :)
