data burning and reading easily

Hello,
I used to have a program for burning data where I could click
on a file or folder and using the "send to" facility send it straight to the cd/r/rw I could do this as many times as I
liked and then read them all back even if the disc was full
then copy any or all of the info back to the hard drive but since I`ve had XP
I can`t use it.
Does anyone know of a program that will do as described or somethig similar.
I`d be really grateful if you could come up with something.

Do you mean "packet writing", where you have to format the CD first?

If so, it's probably the most troublesome and risky way to write, as there are critical areas where one bad write can lose not only the data you're adding, but what was already there.

There should be an XP-Compatible packet soloution that partners most Main CD-R software.
For ROXIO (Easy CD Creator / WinonCD ) it's DirectCD (but the name may have changed in the latest).
For NERO, it's InCD
For RecordNow, it's DLA (Drive letter access)
For Intant CD(/DVD), it's Instantwrite.

So long as you ensure that the previous session is imported, using Multisession in your main CD writer program is probably better - though if you fill a CD-RW that way, you'll have to save it somewhere else and erase to get any space back.



To read back the UDF (packet format), you need a UDF Reader - normally a free download.

Almost right, but I'd like to add- Windows 2000 SP2 or later. You might also need a later MS patch which corrects UDF filestucture reading problems with open DVD's exheeding the 4 GB boundary. This patch is already included in Win 2000 SP4, but for some obscure reason this is not included in the regular WinXP official patches... go figure.
If you are using Windows 2003 (any version), you should not encounter this problem.
