have files that end in .dat these will only play on pc any way to convert so as they will play on stand alone dvd

Use isobuster to change your dat to mpg.
Select filter only m2f2 mpeg frames.
Change the extension to .mpg
Create a vcd using nero or other prog.
This supposes your dat file is a compliant mpeg1 file.

Just substitute your dat file for the avseq.01 file.
