Dat file playback problem

i have windows 2000 sp3 and a toshiba dvd 16x48
the problem is that when i try to play some vcds in windows media player or powerdvd i get a message about format not supported or something...... That vcds play's normal in my WinXP system and the funny is that my other vcds which is the same in .dat format play's normall in both windows 2000 and XP.
i have tried ASPI and many codecks but nothing.
What is happening?

I run Win2000 and have a Toshiba DVD as well. I have never had a problem with *.DAT playback but I general use WinDVD for my VCD playback.

Your problem could simply be the unreadability ( or partly unreadable) of the CDR disk themselves, particularly on cheaper media burnt at high speed. Try a different brand and lower burn speeds, 4x or 8x are good.

Thnx m8 Windvd make the trick everything worked perfect.
I also agree about the fast speeds and cheap media but others gave this vcds to me.
