Damn nero again

just 2 give u the full script.Here goes. Have installed nero 5.5.9.14.used my bundled serial as duracell said.Now 4 the first time ever on my artecwrr4848 i get the justspeed option as well as the justlink.Am trying 2 copy some files on2 cd(all data,software,vids & zips.The damn software wont let me do it.Have tried 6cdrs on it & still no S****N luck

My option 4 the cdr in device manager are dma on, auto insert on,sync data transfer off.Only other cd sofware on machine is alcohol 120%.The burn process varies, sometime it fail at start,other times near end & once will doin lead in out(came up failed message and drive started 2 spin up so fast thought it was goin 2 shatter the disc

I know that if im goin 2 get good advice, this is the best place 2 do so

Ps this was all done with nothing running in background of win98se.Defragged be4 hand& switched cable modem,zonealarm&Nav off.Any 1 else had the same message in zonealarm askin about givin unknown process -23523(find error)
Think its a bug in zonealarm from what i can gather from thier forums

Is in Alcohol,emulation option,"ignore media type" unchecked?.....if it's checked,this option hides the atip from writable media.......on my system,it caused problems with RecordNow and highspeed cdr-w media.....

Thanx 4 the advice roadworker.Have unchecked the option in alcohol.Have attached latest nero error log.Am usin asapi 4.60 & have tried nero asapi, but still havin probs this time burn got 2 89% then failed.Hope u can make more of error log than me

According to your log,DMA of your cdrom is not enabled.....keep also in mind that you CAN'T copy on the fly @ full speed when your reader is rated @ 32X max reading speed,while your burner does 48X writing....

Thanx roadworker, but was tryin 2 copy data from HD.Finally got it copied after it failed a simulaion at 48x, si tried writing at 40x.It work , but the speed dropped dramaticlly near the end.By the way should i enable syncdatatransfer 2 on in devce manager 4 burner?Soz about forgettin key.Finally got 5.5.9.0 & it semm 2 be workin with asapi 4.60.If it fails again ,that;s it, im goin back 2 ecd crematorThanx fo all the help& future advice

yes,but you better check the manufacturer's info to find out if the drive supports it.......all recent drives do,but this isn't the case for all older drives....

Thanx.But using nero mainly 4 makin data CDs so the data is copied on2 the HD.Always use the burner 4 readin.But should i have sync data transfer enabled in device manager ??.Had copied the data from CDRW on 2 HD & then on 2 CD>Many thanx again 4 the good advice as always.DMA is enabled 4 the burner & HD

Sync data transfer is for SCSI drives normally.......


I don't hate Adaptec/Roxio,but it's a fact that it was very intruisive on people's system......since you had it installed,before you decided to use Nero,it's not unlikely that some left-over drivers and registry entries were causing the bad behaviour of your Nero version...they really don't like each other........and simply removing EasyCd-Creator is not enough to get rid of a lot of system and registry junk

If you check Roxio's support pages,you'll be surprised what tricks you have to do to completely get rid of it of your system....

Oh man, how right you are. Some people are lucky. They have both installed and both work flawlessly, but some people can never seem to have them co-exist peacefully.
Either way, it is definitey intrusive and needs special attention to get it uninstalled completely.

Try the instructions I am including on doing a clean uninstall of Roxio's ECDC.

Thanx again, but this is on a clean install of win 98se.With asapi 4.60.Windows Media Shi** Playa Has'nt even been sniffed with contempt yet.But Once again sound advice as ever.Im usein Memorex 48xrated cdrs.The bundled version was ok at times( hair ripping at others& hope cdrsoft is back up & runnin again soonAny more advice appreciated as always...Cheers & long live cdrbase!!!

Just out of curiosity i uninstalled nero & incd & cleaned up.Then installed ecd cremator5PlatRebooted & installed update 2 5.3.2.4 or sumfink.Rebooted again & was able 2 burn cds no probs.& direct cd worked ok also.So why can roxio work but not the software that came with drive???Ain't life a b**ch

But went back 2 nero just 2 annoy meself
