CuteFtp Pro"queueing" problem

ive got something i cant really figure out on CuteFtp Pro 2.0

when i add files to the queue window, say like 10 files for example, then i transfer them all, i cant seem to get them to queue by Filename. say when file "001" is done it doesnt go to file"002". it can go to "004" or "007". is there anyway i can get them to dload in order. i do this because im only on 56k and i leave my computer dloading from midnight-morning. is there any option to set this on global settings or do i have to queue them one by one just to let them transfer in order by filename.

anyhelp would do. thanks!;)

do u know of an ftp program that can dload the queues in order dude? what about cuteftp 5.0 xp? can it handle queues nicely? ive tried smartftp and absolute ftp but they just cant match cuteftp.

well what does it really matter rolz9, as in the end you will need all those files right?
I know what you mean, but I still find cuteFTP pro 2 the best one around.
You can try your luck with WS_FTP pro (from h**p://kickme.to/FOSI). It is also a great ftp app, but I don't recall how it handles queued items (I think it was ok though).

from my experience, nothing matches cuteftp pro2. ws_ftp crashes quite a bit...even with the latest version. it is quite advanced..but crappy when it comes to simple tasks.

shadoe_phantom, well it really matters coz, currently im dloading mangas(japanese comics). they come by volumes or chapters in zip files or rar. i need to dload them in order so i can read some chapters in the morning. when cuteftp dloads chapter 1 then jumps to chapter 30, skipping a lot of early chapters. who wouldnt be pissed off by that? i guess youd understand if you dload these mangas from ftp too. i got like 100 files on queue on cuteftp now bcause that ftp site is full all the time, you rarely get a chance to browse the folders and queue the files. and im only on 56k so cuteftp really helps. a great app. i just hope they add a nicer queueing system on the transfer engine. something like that of Flashget or other dload managers. it would rock coz the transfer engine rocks already even without the queueing support. Also an Auto-disconnect feature for 56kers like me. i know i aint alone. On version 3, i expect a lot from globalscape. eheh.

being that you are on a 56K only, why would you put so many files on queue?
If that's the case, you are probably only downloading 5-9 of them in 1 night anyways, so why not just stick 10 or so on queue. This way you will get what you want without having to worry about it jumping from #2 to #99.
I collect manga & anime also (though my manga is in pure japanese *no english) & normally the files are around 5-10MB each, so I know your 56K modem won't be able to do more than 9 or so in 8 hours.
Just a thought.
But ya, hopefully in version 3 they will have it so queues just download in the order you want them to.
Ofcourse you could always try FlashFXP (but I believe Flashget can also download from FTPs)

that ftp is so cruel, hhehe. its full all the time. sometimes i managed to get in on the 300th+ retry. well its public anyway and anyone can go in, so its usually full. i can only manage to get in if i set the retry to big numbers. anyhow, its really sad when you cant estimate how many mbs you can dload for like 8 hrs. my connection usually goes stable at around 3.5 kb/s(broadband ppl, dont laught at me,hehe). in cuteftp pro 2, while dloading files, i get around 2.5. im not sure if its because of the client or the ftp site itself, but it aint definitely from my connection.

anyway, i have known what you said about queueing only what you estimate can be dloaded at the span of time. i still cant put my self to rest if the queued transfers are all right or too much. it would be bad if the connection wouldnt automatically disconnect if there werent transfers anymore. so Globescape, its about time you release cuteftp pro 3.0 with these features. hope ya see this coz i dont think you have a forum in your site.

1. Auto-disconnect. 56kers do exist.

2. Queue options and manageability. especially on transfer engine. it would be nice to see priority arrows on it and some speed graph/indicator or something. also cool if you can just press F8(like flashget) and transfer the queues in a snap, one by one and in order.

hehe, that was lengthy, but cuteftp pro deserves an upgrade. released 2.0 on dec 2001, its gonna be almost a year. cuteftp is already version 5. its about time pro catches up. although its jam-packed with features already and is the best ftp program, there are still a few features out there that is essential for cuteftp pr0 to have.

Bullet Proof ftp client will download in order that is queued you can get it here.
h**p://w*w.bpftpserver.com/ IMHO it is the best.

Which one of the many cracks for CuteFTP Pro v2 do you guys recommend?

I'm still using Cute FTP Pro v1 atm and I'd like to upgrade, but the cracks I've found for v2 seem to contradict themselves about server checks etc

TIA

Lazer.

shadoe_phantom is right: CuteFTP is the best. I'm a collector of anime/manga too, and - shadoe can confirm this - years ago, such stuff was available almost exclusively on Chinese credit FTP servers. At those times, I had a 33k modem connection, and used CuteFTP for this. After uploading the necessary amount of data to have enough "credit", I put in queue several files for download, and went to sleep, because was nothing else to do.
But, rolz9, something is wrong with your connection. I had an average FTP transfer of 3.5-3.6 or even 3.8 kBps on a 33k connection. On a 56k, you must have at least 6 kBps or even 6.5-6.8. Binary transfers via FTP are usually faster than via http. Especially from a real fast sever, supporting binary compression. I remember that on a 56k connection, I got over 8 kBps (average), downloading IBM disk manager from an IBM FTP server.

Just a question?

Why not just use Flashget or Reget or any other download manager (since you're just downloading anyway)... It has better retry and downloading features than cuteftp since it is especially designed for download.

Just my 2 cents... :)
