CRW-F1 media

I have been looking for media that has a high contrast dye for use in the t@2 function of my drive, I think I may have found a source mentioned over on the CDFreaks forum...

http://www.yesbuy.net/colcdr74min1.html

Check these out, I think they would look cool with some t@2'ing on them!

Anybody else have any ideas or sources? As you all know, the lighter dye colors suck with the function...

later...:D

@mods...I placed this in the Yamaha section rather than the media section cause I felt it kinda only really applies to the CRW-F1s...your call

I found it best just to get the original yamaha cdr's that have the t@2 lable on them.....like the one that came with my Yamaha 44x24x44

Where are you finding Yamaha media?... I have only recently started looking for these "high contrast" discs...good point made about using the original Yammy media though!

here is the cdrid of the one that came with my drive, dont know why I never thought of the original media...I just stuck it away in my collection...

ATIP: 97m 34s 21f
Disc Manufacturer: Mitsubishi Chemicals Corp.
Reflective layer: Dye (Long strategy; e.g. Cyanine, Azo etc.)
Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
nominal Capacity: 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f / LBA: 359849)

@jroc...same ones you have?

*edit*

found this gem...:D, for what it is worth. Havent even seen some of the discs that they tested. Probably just have to make our own findings...

Yamaha t@2 media is pretty rare, and expensive too...

Have you guys found the t@2 awkward? i think its pretty crap and hope they update it and make it a bit more user (dumb guys like me) friendly :D

Im sure that the LPCW-50 does a much better job considering that it is designed for labelling and labelling alone. I dont think I would compare this to the F1 because they are two totally different creatures...in purpose and functionality.

The TDK would definitely be a nice piece of hardware though. I could not even find any available in the US.

mag046, I agree, purpose and functionality differ, but you sacrifice a fair amount of space for the luxury of the T@2, I find the T@2 has a fine effect even with audio discs bordering on about 50 minutes or close..

BTW - I had pitting with my first firmware, small dots as if something had come into contact with the CD, seems to have cured itself once I upgraded the firmware to the latest..

I totally agree with you Strahlen...the loss of usable disk space can be staggering with some of the more intensive t@2ing...but I must say (with the right contrast) the results are amazing. That is why I posted about good media to use and what other CRW-F1 owners experiences are...

For sake of plain old disk labelling, the TDK would win hands down...I sure would like one. Is it your understanding that they are only available in Europe? I was just wondering if anyone actually had one...

I also did not have any problems with 1.0d. It burnt with Nero and Alcohol flawlessly. I then upped to 1.0f from the post in this forum and flawless again, knock on wood...probably now that I said that my drive will die on me...it is just my luck. Anyways, it runs good...as per my other post.

later...:D

mag046,

The marketing of the TDK has a strange history, it started out as a Casio (CW-50) only available in Japan, then turns into a TDK (LPCW-50) seemingly only available in Europe..?!

The power mains is modular, the plug for the wall socket, itself plugs into the converter, which in turn plugs into the Casio, suggesting that for foreign markets they just have to change the plug part.. reinforced also by the box design, which has a large sticker on the box saying clearly.. UK MODEL.
