Create playable cd-r from DivX files

I'm new and totally confused! First, I have a Lite-on standalone DVD player that reads DivX format discs. Also have Intervideo's DVD Copy that rips DVDs to DivX and burns them to cd-r. That all works and plays fine!
Now, I have alot of large size (over 700 MBs) Mpeg 2 that I converted to AVIs (DivX) and want to burn onto cd-r. Don't understand how to burn the AVIs to make playable cd-r. Tried converting the DivX-AVIs with TMPGenc but program wouldn't work with those files.
I don't understand, do I have turn the AVIs back to Mpeg 2s in order to create playable cd-r?

If your player supports DivX, then just burn as a regular data ISO CD using Nero, BurnAtOnce, etc.

Make sure that you don't use any DivX features that your player does not support such as qpel, 3point GMC, etc.

If your player won't play SBC encodes, then you might want to look for a firmware as I believe Lite-On did release a firmware to support DivX3.

Absolutely correct! Worked perfectedly, burned Divx (Avi) files as a data cd and my Liteon LVD 2001 player read and displayed a simple file list of Divxs.

Thank you.
