Question 1: I've been told that you don't have to use dvd decrypter and that you can just go straight to dvd Shrink. I've been using decrypter first then dvd shrink. Can I just skip the decrypting part? What exactly does dvd decrypter do?

Question 2: Say I've backup a DVD movie using the method I mention above (decrypter then shrink). Once I have that backup done, how would I go about making another copy of that backup down the road using NERO? Since it has already been decrypted and shrinked and backed up, shouldn't I just be able to copy it right to another DVD disk?? Everytime I try, (using NERO) I get a error message about half way through the process of it copying the files from the backup to my HD (before it starts to make another copy).

If anyone could help me out with any of these questions, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Some people have been using Shrink only, but some of those people say they now use Decrypter as well as they get better results.
Do not know what those results are.
Decrypter gets rid of copy protection (btw there is supposed to be a new version out - around Xmas time - to combat the newer forms of copy protection) where Shrink may not or if it does, I guess it does not do as good a job, and also Decrypter gets rid of region coding. The latter is probably not necessary unless you plan to have your DVDs played way overseas.
I guess here would also be options available, that Shrink does not give, go thru the options in decrypter and familiarise yourself with the options, but do't change settings that already work for you.

a backup DVD shoudn't contain any protection sheme anymore, so a plain data copy to a new "DVD-ROM (ISO/UDF) project" will suffer in theory;

but if the backup contains errors (poor media) or scratches, then you will get problems with Nero alone; use DVD Decrypter again for ripping and burn with Nero;
