Could someone help me out with this virus

Hi i just downloaded this doom 3 no cd pach.exe, and it contained this virus, and i cant get rid of it,i had norton personal firewall 2003 running, and this virus has shut it down and wont let me enable it again,so i put norton antivirus 2003 on and it said i had well i forgot what it called it but when it started to try and get rid of it,the program just froze and stoped, and now when i try and start it up and enable norton it wont let me everything is disabled now,so i put the new macfee 7.0 pro on and it called it a MultiDropper-BN virus but when it trys to get rid of the virus, the same thing happens as did with norton.i didnt think viruses could be that bad where they could start shuting down the antivirus programs.I have a copy in a zip if anyone wants to do any testing on it,but as it is i cant start any norton or macfee programs up and the virus can do what it wants.

It's a trojan. An old one.The following may work as it's hard to find much info on this one now.

1.go here and d/l UNDO.ZIP

h**p://www.mcafeeb2b.com/naicommon/avert/avert-research-center/tools.asp

2. Disable Norton and McAfee

3.Turn off system restore to all drives

4.run the zip file.

5.Reboot

6.Now try to install Norton or McAfee (your choice but ONLY one of them.........I like Norton cos there's a 'patch for it')

7.If your choice installs get the updates asap

The moral of this story...............Don't surf without protection!

zen, thanks a lot mate, youve saved me a lot of trouble,i followed your directions and everything is normal now, geez that trojan may of been old,but it caused some trouble, anyway i allways assumed i was safe only having a firewall (norton personal firwall 2003) and not go the antivirus option, because i thought like if i get a trojan it wont be able to use the net anyway with a firewall running, but i was quiet shocked when this trojen disabled my firewall, and i was unable to re enable it again, looks like im going to have to keep the antivirus going, but geez they take a lot of system resorses, there allways scanning and chugging the harddrive.what would you recomend i have norton antivirus 2003 macfee antivirus pro and macfee antivirus home version i dont know what the difference is between the home and pro.

I personnaly use norton 2003 from norton systemworks and works fine with me.
You must always keep auto protect enabled when you surf the web or download stuff from peer to peer, you would not believe how many time norton stopped a virus or trojan from downloading on my system . You can get infected just by going on a web page ( like some warez sites) A firewall is only for connection control.
If you have budget get a more powerful computer since you say that it take system ressources it must be because you have weak system.....

Use Norton 2002 or 2003 as a stand alone package, uses less system resourses.

You may find a 'patch' if you use search to get updates until 2029,if you don't pm me and I'll send it.

never surf alone...............
