Copying Boot Drive?

Hey gang, I recently got a serial drive and i'd like to utilize the speed by making it my boot drive. But I don't want to have to reinstall XP and all my other proggies as well as all my little tweaks and stuff. I know Maxtor's MaxBlast has a HD copy utility, will this do the trick or is there a better program out there to accomplish this?

I have all ways used NORTON GHOST 2003/4 Dos version... Its retailed in NORTON SYSTEMWORKS PRO 2003/4...

It uses dos mode with self booting capability...
Did use MAXTOR'S Maxblast and I had noticed didnt copy a few of my files so I had to go and do it manually....

Post back on how it went...

You got to run Microsofts "sysprep" before migrating your system to any new puter- else the migration would be a hit-or-rather-miss story.

i think he won't migrate, just using a new SATA drive instead of his old ATA in the same PC as before;

It's not much different than migrating: The system hardware configuration is significantly changed, I believe running sysprep before imaging is a must.

I´m not sure if this is correct but if you clone a paralel ATA disk to a SATA disk and then use the SATA disk to boot the main IDE controller wont be the same and XP doesn´t change automatically the driver, I haven´t used sysprep but for what I´ve read disk cloning using sysprep can only be done when exactly the same hardware is in use, please correct me if I´m wrong.

I recently migrated a system from a scsi disk to a SATA disk and what I did is to clone the disk and then reinstalled the system over the one that was already installed using the repair option, every setting and program was kept as it was before.

Its up to you busto1...

You decide do you want a fancy Interface look, or a simple dos method with Performance... Ghost v8.0

I'm looking for the easiest way to do this. Putting this rig together has giving me more fits than I've ever had. I see roadworker mentioned Acronis TrueImage, I have that and Acronis EayMigrate so maybe I'll try one of those.

you don't get problems, if you install the SATA driver before mirroring the HDD content;
