Hi

Am i right in saying that Clonedvd will only clone backed up Dvds and not the originals

Any input will be welcome

thats sorta half correct as originals have protection on and first need to be extracted to hard disk and the protection removed on the fly (whilst extracting) i dont think that its neccessary with CLONE DVD and backed up dvds :)

im sure our DVD guru's will step in and clarify this :)

I haven´t tried clonedvd with so many reports telling how dissapointing was I decided to stay with dvdxcopy and dvdshrink in any case for cloning backed up dvds any 1:1 cloner will work and I think the best around right now is Alcohol 120%, so why wasting time and money with Clonedvd when you can get a full app?

May be true, but as time moves on and new versions out, things do improve. Even DVD Shrink is improving. Maybe worth a try.

If you rip the DVD to your HD first with DVD Decrypter (free) then CloneDVD has no problems from there. As suggested, you can also use AnyDVD with CloneDVD to rip the dvd and encode in the one operation.
