Copy DVD-RAM to DVD-R

Well first thing that you need is a drive that can read DVD-RAM's. Then from what I gather you can pretty much copy the files, rename to VOB, reauthor and then burn.

Many thanks for your reply. I already have a drive that can read DVD-RAM.
I have a DVD RAM disk that contains the following files. First a folder that is named = DVD_RTAV. Then inside I have 3 files as follows:

VR_MANGR.BUP
VR_MOVIE
VR_MANGR.IFO

Please excuse my ignorance, do I have to name all 3 files with VOB extension? How do I reauthor? I really appreciate any help you can offer.

Cheers.

DVD RAM to DVD-R

You're right. The file VR_Movie file is a VRO file. So I'll rename this file. Do I then just burn with Nero?

Thanks again for your help.

Once your renamed the VR_MOVIE.VRO file to VR_MOVIE.VOB, then just load it into DVDLab (free 30day demo from their web site), remove the Menu option and reathor a proper set of VOB files. Make sure theres are all in a VIDEO_TS folder and burn to DVDR. See the Tutrorial section on how to use Nero, RNM and others to do this.

DVD-RAM to DVD-R

Many thanks to both of you (Celtic_Druid and ChickenMan) for your help. I will give this a try and see how I get on.

Thanks again.

Direct copies of DVD-RAM disks to DVD-R or DVD+R are not possible, since the filesystem used in -RAM disks is totally different than UDF (actually -RAM disks behave pretty much like removable harddisks). Copying data from a -RAM disk to DVD-R can be done with simple drag+drop, while videoDVD's need more work- by the way the fingers of one hand are more than enough to count the standalone players which can playback DVD-RAM disks.
The main purpose of DVD-RAM is reliable data backups. There they leave -R and +R light years behind, regarding reliability (but not speed).

Ram to DVD-R

Please read properly . I write to ram disk from dvd recorder
I upload to hard drive using USB DVD ram drive & Panasonic movie album se software.
I Author using tmpgenc 1.5
I burn using nero 6 to DVD-R
That works ok for me.
