Converting avi to mpg.

I was wondering if there is a program out there that can convert avi files into mpg. We are using a program called "avi2vcd" the quality is terrible and it takes forever. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

TMPGEnc is the program to use and just follow the DivX to VCD Tutorial in the Tutorial Section.

I downloaded the program and it seems to work for some but not all. It's telling me AVI cannot open or is not supported. What I've noticed is that it only happens with movies. Do you have any suggestions? Or am I going to have to buy an expensive program?

No expensive program is needed. All the best stuff is really free!

Also install the DivX Codec ver 3.11a (dont un-install the ver 4.12 you already have installed), get it from the download page of h**p://www.doom9.net
