Console makers to ship games on DVD

A REPORT in the Taiwanese press claimed that a Ritek subsidiary, U-Tech, has bagged a win from Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo for tens of thousands of DVD disks.
The Taiwan Economic News claimed that U-Tech is also actively soliciting orders from all three of the console players.

The companies are going to use high volume DVDs as media for game software, the paper claimed, with all three big console firms putting tenders out for large quantities of disks.

It added that DVDs will soon displace CDs on all three console platforms, in order to offer better games to customers.
