computer tft screen or tv screen?

hello, was wondering if anyone could help me...i have a computer and tv in one room which looks messy... i want to have only one that i can use for (both) tv and a monitor...but am not sure what to get.. could i use a tv as a monitor? if so what else will i need to make the tv work as a monitor too.. or do i have to get a monitor and and tv card to use as a tv? if it is possible what would be the cheapest and best way of doing it...i am also wanting to watch ntl cable through the (tv/monitor) but i am not sure if i can do that???

The cheapest way to get your pc on your tv is to get a video card with tv out or rca out. Nvidia may be the best brand for that and you don't have to go top of the line either. As for also watching cable on the same set a splitter from your local radio shack should solve that.

You will not be satisfied with the TV as a computer display for detailed work, as the resolution is not good enough.

There are LCD TV/Monitors, that can work independently as a TV and provide usable resolution as a monitor (as good as a normal monitor).

There are TV cards, which allow the computer to display or record from TV or an imput such as a cable or satellite box.

The final option is the "Telebox", one point to beware of, this is NOT a scan-converting box, so it requires the Monitor to be able to scan a TV-standard signal (UK 625 line interlaced) - if the monitor cannot do this, it will not work with this box!

There may be more advanced, but more expensive solutions, which convert the picture to VGA standard

As the guy said above,monitor will give better picture then tv,but..a big but.
I got connected my video audio and pc to a tv instead of monitor..Its a regular 27 inch tv=around 65-67 cm if i translqte correct..I have to use tv as you say couse tv and monitor looks ugly-this is a better solution...
Also you can watch all files,video-dvds from a pc-no a standlone needed,listen music too..Its ok for bqasic things like that and email interenet downloading..but ou cant spend like 10 hours a day couse its bad for eyes i guess and its not sharp picture if you do some proffessional artwork or other ""fine""things..
For me its a perfect solution couse i dont need really sharp picture..Also,i dont have problems reading things like emai or forums like this one...
Just get a good card with tv-out and svideo output jack and youre good to go :) :)
