computer crashing??..

my computer has been crashing on me alot recently....it just shuts down by itself then when i try to restart it i cant even get on desktop....i will still be in the retarting up mode....my screen will just be black....then it'll say that i have a disk errror or something....and it cannot read or something....ive been rebooting my computer several times just to get back on my desktop....only if i reboot it then everything will work fine....but im tired of rebooting it....loosing everything i have over and over again....i dont know how to use the recover/repair or whatever in the xp cd....i only see a recovery console but i dont know how to use that....i cant even hook up another hard drive cuzz when i do it'll say disk error....both of the hard drive's have OS's on them....when i hook up both of them to my primary i can get on my desktop with nothing on the secondary.... but if i put one in the primary and the secondary it'll just say disk error....i dont know why but my primary works only.... my secondary is ****ed up or something.... the only things that come to my mind is that my power supply is messed up or my motherboard is messed up or my computer is overheating thats causing it to shut down....i dont think its my electrical outlet thats shutting down my computer.... anyways how do i fix this??.. how do i prevent this from happening again??..

check that its not over heating and that your cpu fan is clear of dirt and dust and that the case is well ventilated :)

have you over clocked it or changed any of the settings for the cpu in bios !?

have you added new hardware lately !?

changed or added/removed software ?

can you get into safemode and perform a system restore ?

try running a CHKDSK /F in dos see if that helps :)

Could just be that your hard drive is on the way out. Install it into a friends pc and see if it does the same thing. Then you know for sure.

If your problem is Hard Disk related I suggest trying Hard Disk Regenerator (HDD Regenerator).

ive recently just cleaned my computer....took out everything piece by piece and cleaned it....how would i check if its overheating??..and i dont know how to clock or whatever that is....and no everything in the bios is still the same i never touch that cuzz i dont know how....all my hardware is still the same and all my software is still the same....how would i get into safe mode when i cant get on my desktop??..running a chkdsk in safe mode??..well both my HD's are fine now that i rebooted them....im just afraid that it might just suddenly shut down on me again....then i will lose everything again....then it wouldnt let me get on my desktop....then i will have to reboot again....which im tired of doing already....
