Comments about NERO requested

Hi guys,

Since I was Away of this excelent place for almost a year I lost a lot of information. In some post I read how Poko criticizes Ahead's new version of Nero and this was Poko's favourite Burning software . I would like your comment on this from you and the other members of this forum and what you recomend as the best to use now (If I'm not mistaken it is VOB, but still I would like hear what you have to say).

My comments about Nero is that since the last 2 versions I have problems with Nero. It Locks, Closes him self without any reason some times freezes. Well I think you know what I'm talking about. They make it very attractive but followed the big mistake used by Microsoft, product quality or in other words good working and bug free program.

Poko do you still have that Packet writing software that was smaller than a 1.44 diskette and you recomended next to not using any software of this Kind? Sorry, I'm 66?? Km away from home and don't remember it's name right now. If you have it can you attach it on the post, if possible.

Thanks in advance and cheers,

El_Matador

PS: the packet software I mean is NTI FileCD2

hi. Welcome back.
I think what pokopiko meant was, Nero is still good, but some of the latest version have some bad bugs in them. However if you can get your hands on these versions:
5551,5552,5564,5569
you should be ok. It's the versions inbetween & after these that don't work too well. v5580 has just been released so not too much is known about it yet (haven't heard enough testing), but you can't go wrong with those mentioned earlier.
I guess it all depends what you want to do with it also.
Good luck.

Nero 5580 failure

Sorry to report that whilst trying to convert 25 MP3 to MP3Pro using Nero's file encoder I received the familiar-

"This application has performed an illlegal, blah, blah blah"

Looks like those bugs are still floating about.

Yep, it's sad to see how a piece of art (as Poko considered it around 18 months ago) has changed in one more of the bunch. I have version 5569 but never installed it, because it was not released officialy and I considered it as a test version, but it looks like I have misjudges it. Oldy, may be you get this mistake because the encoder is cracked, I don't know. Some times it works flawless, but other you get the stupiest errors. As I said, it is really sad, because after many discusions with Poko I followed his advice to leave ECDC 5 and WinOnCD 3.8 PE to use Nero, and now it's over with an almost bugfree engine. I hope they solve these problem soon.

Cheers,

PS: Poko is there a place where I can get NTI FileCD2, sorry for beeing insistent about this

I agree with Pokopiko that the 5048 version is the best and most stable version. For me the 5551 version is working fine too.
All other 55xx versions gave me some trouble.
With the latest 5580 i was forced to do a cold reset..power off
