Columbia shuttle exploded

It is just a pretty typical military accident, I dont feel exhited at all. I just pity the fools that envision conquering the world by such baloney projects.
It seems that mr. J.W. Bush is not just sap and corrupted, he is jinx as well.

thanks for your time to read this but we have to have some RESPECT all our hearts go out to those involved :)

17 years and the same week since Challenger - is the Shuttle really that old?

Columbia was the oldest in the fleet

And that also links to the fateful mission

Once upon a time, every launch and landing was news, but then, the shuttle became the "space bus", and like every form of transport, you can expect the odd accident... how many die in plane, train, bus and car crashes every year?

A small thing to be thankful for, is that there were no ground casualties, unlike in many plane crashes.

This is sad to me. I do not know any of them personally, of course, but it makes my heart ache to see such tragedies.

My condolences to the victim's families.

The space program may seem like a waste of money.
But it may save us all (our descendants anyway) once we have killed our planet completely.

My sympathies.

I couldn't agree more.

An interesting thought but not valid space travel will never save us
U just CANNOT travel fast enough to get anywhere worthwhile (forget space warp factor 4)

We should be more worried about whats gonna hit us from space not where we are gonna go.

And that makes the deaths even more tragic.

Thats what they said about the first trains.
Technology is boundaryless.
Its just a matter of time before the fuel/engine is there.
A long long long time yet.

d not a matter of what they build its physics & until we find a way to travel at speeds way beyond what physics says exist can we travel in Space properly.

Remember the places we may want to go to are moving away from us faster & faster so something that is 1000 light years away today will be 1001 light years away tomorrow.

I have to say that there is as much one sided bull on that site as anywhere in the whitehouse or 10 downing street.
For my part. ;)
Its irrelevent anyway.
People have died. Recriminations can be left for later.

Actually, when I agreed with Dave I was not talking about a shuttling system to go back and forth from earth to space. I had envisioned future generations living in space colonies where everything is contained within. Travel among the colony would be a feasible thing, something highly advanced. I beleive it can be done and maybe it will be-- long, long after we are gone.
