Yep read about it at doom9, nothing new, just another tweaked non-standard XVCD

There are dozens of tweaked XVCD's and everyone claims theirs is the best.

EazyVCD can also do a 1 CD rip as well, and you couldnt find a more simpler program than that.

To be honest I have never really compared any of them. I've tried most at various times, found lots of playback problem. None ever come up to expectations and never as good quality as standard formats. As I have always said here many times, I do not recommend or encourage the generation of Non-standard formats, but its a free world and you can decide yourself which way to go. All I can suggest is to try one of these and compare the output to what your expectations are.

The fact of putting a VCD on one CD is not a reason to change from VCD specs IMHO. You burn to a 99min CD instead as 2/3 of movies will fit onto them no problems.

Here in Oz, most computer stors stock them and available at Sunday markets. Price is about AU$1 (US$0.50 or 35p) I have been told Ritek are the only manufacturer of these disks but come under a few different labels. There are also many different brands of 90min CDR's around as well.

Make sure your burner can burn them as not all can burn to 99min most stop around the 90 to 93 min mark. All the LiteOns burn to 99min

Since I took my forum name from my drive (first thing I could think of that wasn't taken).

The Liteon 12x, with Sanyo chipset only goes to 90min on 99min media.

At the last fair I went to, the only >80 media available was 99min, not 90 or "80plus" - a shame, as it's les "stretched" than 99.

PS. Do you remember the 120min that was "coming soon" - I recall there being some sort of conspiracy to kill it off - (succeeded!)

Hi CM,
do you have experience with standalone-player compatibility of those 90min-discs?
From my expreience, I have played 90min CDR's on a dozen or more DVD Players all without a problem. The 99 min ones, well a few players cant seam to play the last few minutes of them, stop, skip and jump around the 93min mark. But my Hiteker (APEX) unit playes them to the end no probs. Secret is to burn at min speed. I burn these at 8x on my 40x LiteOn as thats the lowest and 90% of players should be able to handle them okay.
