Clicking and popping during loud scenes...

I was trying to back up my LOTR - Fellowship of the Rings DVD
to 2 DVD-R discs, but the finished product seems to have a
clicking or popping sound here and there when scenes get
kind of loud.

I've tried the following with the same results:
-DVDShrink3.0 to split the movie by "re-authoring" the
main movie into 2 parts, then ImgToolBurn to burn to DVD-R
-DVD Decrypter, then IfoEdit split into 2, then IfoEdit to create
new Ifos, then ImgToolBurn to burn to DVD-R

Anyone else ever have a problem like this?
Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

None of the encoding or transcoding programs touch the audio in any way. Its exactly as per the original DVD. Try playing your origianl DVD at the same place as your backup, do they both have problems. If so, have a look at your DVD Player and Hi-Fi setup.
