Cinema Craft Encoder questions

My problems with DVDREAsy are solved when using another computer....
I'm trying to narrow down what can cause the problem on my laptop,so I uninstalled and reinstalled most of the codecs,I uninstalled+reinstalled SP2 and most drivers, but still no joy...
My laptop specs:

Laptop Toshiba Satellite SA30-614:

Intel P IV 3.06 hyperthreading
Hitachi 60GB Hard Drive
512 DDR
Toshiba SD-R 6112 dvdwriter
Realtek AC97 onboard sound
SMC wireless adapter

Running XP Home SP2

Question:
How much memory hogs CCE on YOUR system?
On mine,it's approx 115 MB

Question:
When CCE starts,it goes up to approx 2.6 realtime encoding speed,
but drops down slowly to 1.3 after a few minutes....
What encoding speed do YOU get after a few minutes?

Please post some computer specs when answering...
I'm trying to figure out what's wrong before formatting....

win xp-sp2,512 ram,533 bys,p4 2.53ghz pachard computer..
never use dvdeasy,i always reencode dvd with dvd2svcd with cce2.50- from doom9
takes me between 3-4 hours to convert avi to dvd or dvd to dvd
takes more then your pc-around140mb and while is active i cant do nothing at all-pc is totally frozen, but at the end it do the job;why dont you try rebuilder or dvd2svcd-you can use cce with them :)
btw speed is aaround the same..

Post Edited reason:- edited a typo for you zver ;) >>>VIPER_1069 <<<< :)

THX for the info,zver!
But it's not a DVDREasy problem....
I tried with CCE as standalone, without being triggered by another program...i'm confused why my laptop can't get more than 1.3 average realtime encoding....sometimes it even drops to less than 1 after a few hours running.....
Must be higher on a PIV 3.06,don't you think?

My workhorse:
Epox 8RDA6+ Pro nforce2
512(2x256) pc2700 twinmos ram @205mhz(2.3.3.11) in single channel.
(Waiting for a 3200 1 gig dual pack i had to rma)
Athlon xp m2400+(35w:D) @ 12.5x205
Editing drive Wd Raptor 74 gb
System drive Wd Raptor 36 gb
+ storage drive and burners
OS:Win2k sp4

Depending on source and quality settings:

With D2SRoBa and d2s cce usually hits aprox 1.5 to 2.5.
That usually means 90 mins to 3 hours.

Cce uses 170\190 mb ram.

What speed does that hdd operate at?
Have you tried benchmarking? To narrow down potensial bottlenecks
:)

I think I found the problem.....
Power Management is enabled and also cpu throttling.....the cpu automaticly clocks down under 95-100% load.
We all know that CCE uses that much cpu power,so when my laptop is under heavy load of CCE,the encoding speed drops down to less then 1 because the throttling kicks in..
I have a Phoenix NoteBios on my laptop, and it seems that the power management option is hidden, this is quite often the case for oem bios....
The only way to enable power management, seems to be by using BiosPatcher to enable the hidden options, but unfortunually my bios doesn't accept the patched version because it thinks it's the same bios that I'm trying to flash.....so I'm looking for a possability to remove the checksum from the Phoenix patcher,or to search for an older oem bios than mine, but Toshiba doesn't have it anymore..
