Recently ripped 2 dvd's last weekend using 2 programs. I used SmartRipper 2.41& Vidomi to rip, encode a dvd, but the sound LAGS! It's like watching one of them foreign kung fu films and the karete dude says" everybody was kung fu fightin;", but you don't hear the dude say that until like 7 seconds later? What is da fix here? I closed all applications and ripped overnight. The other program I tried was EasyDivX 0.82, and I get the same thing (audio lag). I choose DivX 5.02 codec.

Unfortunately the Tutorials at the above addy are for MPEG files only, not DivX.

Vidomi & EasyDivX are both know to cause a/v sync problems at times with DivX codec 5.x on some systems. Suggest you try DivX 3.11 instead. Result will be of same quality, just a fraction larger.

ChickenMan,
I printed out the tutorial and began reading. I'm sorta confused because it talks about converting to mpeg format. My question here is, what tool are you using to do so? If I start from scratch I have vob files either on my hd or straight from the disc. Can I use Vidomi to convert to mpeg? Also, I have a dvd that has part of the movie on 1 side, and the other on the other side (Part A, B). What AVI or MPEG tool do I use to join?

As I said in my previous post, that Tutorial is for MPEg files, your making DivX and they have absolutely nothing to do with one another.

Vidomi can only make DivX avi's, thats what its designed to do.

With the 2 sided DVD, convert each side to a DivX, then load DivX A into VirtualDUB, then select Append AVI segment... and load DivX B in. Set both Video and Audio to Direct Stream Copy and hit Save AVI. You will now have one big avi joined from the 2 pieces.

OOps!

Sorry mate!
Missunderstood you there!
Anyhow its a good tutorial and it doesnt do any harm to read it!lol!
