The other one I remembered was "save Bernd" (too late!, I wonder what the recipe was?)
http://www.examiner.ie/pport/web/Full_Story/did-sgnJwVIiOGmiI.asp - More about the "rabbit ransoms".
http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/ - and according to Snopes, they are all hoaxes
The most telling issue, of course, is that there is NO PROOF... I could put up a site with a stock photo of a rabbit, photoshop a newspaper front page in to give a date, and then either keep re-dating that picture, or replace it with a rabbit pie - mmmm! "Watership down, you've read the book, you've seen the film, now eat the pie".
Anyone who could consider eating their pet, unless it was life or death for them, doesn't deserve to own one, mind you, I can commisserate with the guy who fried a prize Koi that was killed by a heron - the most expensive fish supper ever.
Edited reason:- @LTR you are still inadvertantly promoting the scam with this second link ive edited it does it so does not ! >>>VIPER_1069 <<<<
