http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_2_201_20101&products_id=7619 £13.11 - and 95p p&p (missed the free p&p they do sometimes)

Triple pack - http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_2_201_20101&products_id=7626 - = £12.96 each.

Or £4.39 for compatible - you really have to be afraid of the possible drawbacks (warranty, damage, quality), to spend the same on ONE original as 3 compatibles - I don't think I'd ever risk refilling EPSON's - one bit of grot in the ink and bye-bye print head!

See if you know someone with a card for Costco at the Metro Centre, a friend of mine owns a computer shop, but he can buy cartridges cheaper there than from the Epson rep.

Last ones I got were for my Epson 895 were £11 each.

Its not that. I have found that not only do the compatibles not last as long (about 20-30% less before they are making a mess of a print), and for some reason I have serious head cleaning problems when using them, and sometimes they work and sometimes not. I will admit to not using jet-tec yet as the Gateshead comp fair have a lot of other types, the last 3 colour of which have caused the problems I have had. The originals I have had no such bother with.

If I can find them I will. As I say, I cant remember my local com fair stocking them. I'll be going to the Newcastle Racecourse comp fair this saturday with a few workmates, so maybe try there.

Some people reckon that if you use compatibles, you should run an original through once in a while.

If you are a REALLY heavy user, a CIS (Continuous Inking System) conversion may be worth looking at - not sure if it's possible for ALL models, but it appears the chip system has been attacked and beaten.

cart chipping kits have been around almost as long as original chipped carts as far as im aware lol :)

new technology will always have counter technology hot on it heels :)

I meant the guy who cracked the protocol to the point of being able to make a CIS always report full.

The profit margin on original inks must be truly astronomical.

If they halved the prices on originals, so they were only 50% dearer than a typical clone, instead of 200%, I wouldn't consider buying clones - maybe even if they were twice the price of a compatible.

One thing I DO like about chip system - on the older EPSONs, if you were forced to make an "out of schedule" change, it seemed you NEVER got back in step.

There's a little prog somewhere for Epsons and I'm damned if I know where - that resets the clock as it where on the cartridges so you can drain the cartridge so to speak.
