Cheap standalone dvd player

Hi!

A few months ago I bought a cheap standalone dvd player (Tom-Tec dvd100).

I'm very happy with the way it works, it can read dvd+, dvd-, vcd, svcd, mp3, but it cannot recognize divx movies.

Is there a way to make this player recognize divx?
I was thinking about firmware upgrade, coding through remote control or things like that.
I don't know if this can be done at all, but asking cannot do any harm!

In a word NO
Most standalones will not play Divx (AVI)
There are some that do (KISS & LiteOn spring to mind)
I doubt whether U can upgrade yours to do it.

Tendance X500 Mediaplayer

Hi I came across this very slimline standalone player here in Saint Denis..at Carrefour super store. Its the Tendance X500 and plays divx also.@ 800 euros its a very good buy.(Sale) and looks better then the kiss and liteon units thats I've seen..
